LACTATION SUPPORT NETWORK
for DISASTERS/EMERGENCIES
Preserving and protecting lactation becomes even more important during disasters and emergencies. Infants are at greater risk of respiratory and diarrheal disease and malnutrition. Lactating parents are at risk of illness and losing their milk supply if not able to remove milk frequently and effectively if separated from their infants and children.
Accordingly, South Carolina’s Lactation Specialists have committed to mobilize in the event of a disaster or emergency.
Fill out the EMERGENCY HELP NEEDED If you need help during a disaster/emergency (you can also fill the form out, with permission, for a person in need),
Fill out the I CAN HELP form if you are a lactation specialist who wants to help. Note, if you are an IBCLC, volunteering with SCBC counts for practice hours for recertification.
